The Sunday Telegraph accused the designer of avoiding paying UK tax by filing her company's accounts through its group headquarters in Luxembourg, but Westwood asserts that everything is in order. "I am concerned at the allegation in the papers," Westwood told WWD . "It is important to me that my business affairs are in line with my personal values. I am subject to UK tax on all of my income." The company confirmed in a statement in response to the story that Vivienne Westwood Limited paid substantial UK taxes of £780,228 in 2013. The paper also questioned a donation by Westwood to the Green Party, which the company confirmed was a "personal donation" by the designer and therefore not related to company accounts. "My personal donation to the Green Party reflects my desire to see a more equitable and sustainable society," the designer added. "I remain fully committed to the Green Party and will be doing all I can to ensure that they achieve success in the general election."
